Village Wildlife Conservation Consortium

The mission of the Village Wildlife Conservation Consortium is to educate private landowners and stakeholders about the benefits of protecting and enhancing wildlife resources, develop programs for introducing opportunities and benefits, and provide a statewide voice and a forum on wildlife issues.

The Consortium is nonprofit, governed by landowners, includes trade and affiliated organizations, and supports wildlife management on private lands. It was formed during a meeting at the Hilton Hotel in Anchorage on June 15, 2000.

Vision

Through the guidance of our elders and the knowledge of our membership, the Village Wildlife Conservation Consortium will work to improve our wildlife resources, habitat, and economies.

What can the Consortium accomplish?

The VWCC can:

  • Provide a statewide voice on wildlife issues

  • Introduce eco, adventure and watchable wildlife tourism

  • Enhance the recovery of subsistence and trophy wildlife

  • Support Private Lands Wildlife Management

Members benefit through access to education and training, wildlife habitat enhancement, new market development, cooperative buying power, and Internet marketing and member products and services. Other member benefits include:

  • Support to negotiate cooperative management agreements

  • Information about new income and employment opportunities

  • Support for mediation of trespass issues
