PROFESSIONAL SERVICES GROUP (PSG) is a division of Alaska Village Initiatives. PSG offers a full range of fee-based programs and services designed to strengthen village economies, to create jobs and skills, and achieve financial self-sufficiency. Detailed below are the various fee-based programs and services offered:
1. Business and Financing Plans
If you have an enterprise that interests you, we can help you write a business plan and assist you in completing loan or financing applications.
2. Community and Board Training
PSG offers a wide variety of community and board training. These courses can be tailored to your specific needs and can be held at AVI or in your community. Training courses include Board Governance, Parliamentary Procedure & Robert Rules of Order, Conflicts of Interest & Code of Conduct, Introduction to the 8(a) Program, Tribal Conservation Districts, Reading Financial Statements & Basic Accounting Principles and Community Broadband Training.
3. Community Visioning and Planning
Community Visioning and Planning allows participation from every sector of the community to plan the economic and social growth of your community. Through prioritization of community needs and correct delegation of responsibility; communities will create a vision, as well as an action plan for community growth.
4. Grant Application Assistance
Professional Services Group’s grant writing services can include any combination of funding research, proposal writing and proposal review. Staff is available to consult with clients on-site or to work with the organization by phone, FAX and e-mail. Our approach to grant writing services is to ensure that the client organization has ample opportunity to review and approve the goals, activities, timeline and budget items being proposed. PSG will advise or facilitate the decision-making process if necessary, to get further input from the community or Board in order to pursue specific funding opportunities.
5. Rural Orientations
Companies doing business in rural Alaska often have an influx of staff who are not familiar with Alaska village people and lifestyles. AVI has contracted with some of these companies to provide an orientation to rural Alaska and doing business in the villages. PSG prepares materials, conducts presentations and assists with rural familiarity tours.
6. Strategic Planning
A road map of your company's growth. Strategic planning allows the board and management to understand where a company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats lie. This process will also create an action plan to accomplish company goals and objectives.
